Activity history leaves sync present

Activity history leaves sync present

Postby harningt » Tue 5. Feb 2013, 05:15

Device model: Motorola Photon 4G
Android version: 2.3.4
DGT GTD Value Pack version:DGT GTD rc1-187, Value pack rc1-9

While going back from a task clicked in the widget, it went to the sync progress page causing an unexpected sync. When it completed and I clicked on close, it went right to another sync flow.

The sync activity itself should probably not be added to the history list since it is a minor pain to cancel on slow connections.

I'm not able to reproduce it.
Could you please try again and provide a step-by-step action list?

I am unable to reproduce it as well. I'm guessing it was caused in part by the strange hangs / crashes I had when connectivity was spotty.

If I start a sync and hit home, then go to a widget link to the app, it'll show the relevant task, then when I hit back, it goes back to the sync screen with its current progress.

Using latest release (191 / 14) I have the following behavior:

if I hit home after starting a sync, clicking on task links and hitting back brings me to the sync process, showing the active process. Repeating this continues to show the desired behavior of only showing progress, never starting it again even when finished.

I'd call this bug gone.

Ah-hah I have a repro.
This morning I clicked a task to check out what it was from the widget and then hit back. It started the sync right away. Guess the last thing I had done was sync and leave it at the page.

Assuming it was because it was at the sync page and the app was unloaded because it had been so long, I did the following for a fast repro.

1) sync fully / sync then cancel (same results in the end )
2) hit home
3) kill DGT + pack
4) click a widget item
5) hit back - sync starts!

guessing when it has the app still in memory it knows it's last state was a complete our canceled sync, but when it has no state, it sees that it should start a new sync.

I'm not able to reproduce it, quick questions...
do you close the sync dialog after step 1. pressing the "Close" button?
or do you hit home when the dialog is still displayed?
how do you kill the apps?
- using the built in app manager?
- using a downloaded apk?

In order to reproduce, I hit home, not close.

I had been using Advanced Task Killer: http://market.android.com/details?id=co ... taskkiller

With Advanced Task Killer I'm able to reproduce it but I think it's due to how it "kills" the apps. With the stock app manager it doesn't happen.
